It was one of the hot topics of the past few days: the new formula du World Padel Tour, presented by its new leader, Alex Corretja.

Previously we mentioned the various improvements for the players as well as the new prize-money awarded to athletes. But the main players in the show were above all waiting for certain answers concerning exclusivity and the fines that the circuit wishes to impose on them.

Indeed, you are not unaware that the sixty best players of the Spanish circuit have been awarded fines for having participated in the various stages of Premier Padel while they had an exclusivity clause with the WPT in their contract. Thus, for a year now, it is a war with interposed letters that the players are waging via their PPA association and the leaders of the circuit.

To ease these tensions, the World Padel Tour therefore removes exclusivity in its new formula, but asks players for a significant commitment to the circuit with first a commitment over five seasons. In addition, if a player participates in another tournament during an Open 150 or Big week, he will be fined 3000 euros and 10% of his current ranking points. In addition, a penalty of 2000 euros is also foreseen if the athlete plays a tournament of another circuit in a city visited by the WPT during the year.

Note that the WPT can terminate a player's contract if he does not participate in a minimum of 15 tournaments.
