Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: Sanyo, it's not a day like any other. Do you feel it?

Sanyo:“Yes, when I went to bed last night I knew that. It is a very important day. Yesterday I didn't know if I was playing. Today… the composition is not out yet. I think the most important thing is that the team is united. I will leave my heart on the pitch.”

The level of the South American teams makes me sad

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: We see that the level of all the selections is increasing a lot, everything is more balanced.

Sanyo:"I think it is the level of European selections that is increasing. The level of South American teams has dropped a lot, apart from Argentina. Maybe Paraguay are playing better, but in my opinion Brazil, Uruguay, it's going down... And that makes me sad. We have to help young people and I was talking about it with my federation this week.”

I know my new teammate

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: We know that the Sanyo/Tapia pair is ending. Who will you play with? Did you find ? Spanish or Argentinian?

Sanyo :“I know who it will be but I can't tell you right now. I'm really happy to be able to play with him. I would really like us to do beautiful things. We haven't decided on the day of the announcement yet, but you'll know instantly.

We suffer too much

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: In 2023, do you think it will be a season with the two circuits again?

Sanyo :“Yes, unfortunately for the players. Next year we will have many more tournaments. We do not realize that we are jeopardizing our sports career, for quarrels that should not even concern us. This has been decided. I don't agree, although I like the fact that people are interested in developing the padel and which value the athlete more. But we suffer too much, and if it continues like this, careers will be shorter, or even serious injuries could happen.”

There are things I don't like about PPA

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: While it's true that some players have a broken relationship with the WPT, you don't. You were also the only top player to go to the meeting to present the new WPT.

Sanyo:“I respect the PPA, and I'm 100% with them. But there are some things I don't like. There are things I don't agree with and that's also why we have an association. Since it wasn't such an important thing to go there and listen, I wanted to go. I have to be grateful with the WPT, they gave me a lot, and I gave back to them. I disagreed with not going, but I will always be on the side of the PPA and what the majority will say.”

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: Did you like what you listened to that day?

Sanyo: Yes a lot. Many things still need to be changed. It must be analyzed cold. We'll see what happens.

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: Do you think it's possible that the majority will decide to sign with the World Padel Tour ?

Sanyo: (Grimace)

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: Will you defend this point of view within the PPA?

Sanyo: “No, it's not my role. It will be the members of the “board” who will decide. I will just give my point of view. There will be a vote, or our lawyer will advise us.”

I will not go to Premier Padel from Milano

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: Will you go to all the tournaments of Premier Padel ?

Sanyo:“I will go to the Major in Mexico, but not to P1 in Milan. We've had a lot of weeks away, and it's tough mentally. Before earning points or more money, we must think about our health. All of these pair changes happened because of the amount of tournaments.”
