With an outdoor field, fast playing conditions and Coello playing at home, the mission seemed impossible for Martin Di Nenno and Franco Stupaczuk. And yet, the Superpibes have achieved the unthinkable.

A mad final

From the first games, the tone is set. Coello and Tapia impose their rhythm with an incisive game. The WPT's “Invincibles” are the first to score, winning their opponents' serve. The reaction of the Superpibes is not long in coming, the players of Carlos Pozzoni recover their service on a white game. The two pairs engage in an intense battle in this first round.

The Superpibes could have taken the lead at 4/4 but did not succeed and find themselves immediately sanctioned by the numbers 1 of the circuit. In important moments, Coello and Tapia are stronger. On the first set point, they are effective and win the first set 6/4.

Faced with the “Invincibles”, each mistake can be fatal and the Superpibes paid the price in the first round. Since the start of the season, the Argentinians have played four WPT finals against Coello and Tapia and they have lost each time. Carlos Pozzoni's players did not give up their weapons however and attacked this second round with more enthusiasm and panache. Coello and Tapia are in difficulty on their service games and end up giving in.

The Argentinians take the advantage at the best moment and take the second leg. The Superpibes are more precise and manage to contain the attacks of the number 1 of the circuit. The match is restarted, one set everywhere in this final: 6/4 4/6.

set 2 summary Coello Tapia - Stupa Di Nenno

And if the numbers 1 fell this Sunday in Valladolid? With the level of play displayed by the Superpibes in this second round, the question deserves to be asked. However, Carlos Pozzoni's players slow down at the worst of times. Coello and Tapia do not make gifts and pocket the service of the Argentines. But, as in the first set, the Superpibes react in stride and realize the break. The tension is palpable on every game, the slightest mistake can cost the title and both pairs know it.

At 5/5, it was the Superpibes who offered themselves an opportunity to take the advantage on a punto de oro, but once again, the kings of the circuit remained solid. The Valladolid Master will be played on the tiebreak. Mentally, the Argentinians take the lead and end up knocking down the Unsinkable Coello/Tapia in three sets 4/6 6/4 7/6 in 2h23.

Number of the day: 2. Second defeat this season on all circuits for Coello and Tapia. The first was already against the Superpibes in the semi-finals at the Qatar Major du Premier Padel.

Stupa and Di Nenno end the invincibility of Coello and Tapia

After 45 consecutive victories, the kings of the circuit have fallen for the first time this season on the WPT. Martin Di Nenno and Franco Stupaczuk showed extraordinary mental strength this Sunday by knocking down the numbers 1. Tapia and Coello lacked rhythm this Sunday and failed to materialize their advantage. Less hard-hitting and less precise, they lean logically in this crazy finale.

The Superpibes continue their meteoric rise and win a fourth title this season after Doha, Copenhagen, Toulouse and now Valladolid.
