L"APT Padel Tour and World Padel Tour could they one day join forces? In any case, it is a bet taken by the President of the Portuguese Federation to Padel, Richard Oliveira.

The President of the FPP maintains strong links with the two main professional circuits, the WPT and the APT. He believes that a rapprochement is possible by drawing a parallel with what happened in golf. Interesting words that he explains to us:

A new kid on the block

As President of the Portuguese Federation of Padel, we welcome every tour in Portugal. All players can participate in all the tours offered in Portugal. It is the role of a federation not to be linked only to a single circuit.

In Portugal we have hosted many WPT events. They played their part in the development of padel with us.

I would point out again that in 2012 they were the first to help the Portuguese Federation. We will therefore be eternally grateful to the WPT.

We have a very good relationship with them and I believe we respect each other. At the moment we are cooperating with them to organize the Cascais Padel Masters

Now, "there is a new kid on the block." The APT also contacted us and we organized 4 events in Portugal. We have a great relationship with the APT. FEPA, where we are affiliated, is a partner of the APT.

The APT / WPT Prize money will be about the same certainly next year. This could prompt players to switch from the APT to the WPT. With Thomas Johansson at the APT, this brings even more credibility to the APT.

A merger of the APT and the WPT

The future could be a merger of organizations.

At Golf, for example, we have several circuits, such as the PGA Tour, the European Tour, the Asian Tour, the South African Tour, etc. They found a way to understand each other and to work together. They managed to have a common world ranking.

I believe the WPT has smart people working for it, the APT also employs smart people so sooner or later they will sit down and talk. Talking is always the best way, closing doors is not good for anyone ...

And you, do you think this will be possible one day?
