The 2023 season is about to start with the Abu Dhabi Masters. This year the WPT has revised its settlement with one objective: to give more importance to the Masters.

A few days before the start of the season, the circuit managed by Setpoint Events SA has included some new features in its 2023 regulations. In addition to the arrival of Open 1000 and Open 500, la disappearance of previas and the addition of a round of previas,he WPT has also changed its point allocation for the Masters.

More importance for Masters

Allocation-of-points-WPT-2023-2022

The Master is the category that awards the most points. Starting this year, these tournaments will bring 2000 points to winners unlike previous years when they reported 1700. This first tournament of the season will be the one that will have awarded the most points in history on the professional circuit. A novelty which testifies to the ambitions of the circuit: to grant more importance to the Masters.

No change for the Open 1000, arrival of the Open 500

As previously stated, there will now be two types of Open tournaments: 500 and 1000. These will work like the Masters, with the top four seeds starting in the sixteenths. Unsurprisingly, as for the Open of previous years, the allocation will remain 1000 points for the winners of the tournaments.

As their name suggests, the Open 500 will earn 500 points, four times less than a Master
