While earlier in the afternoon, the women's final was in full swing and saw Beatriz Gonzalez and Marta Ortega mystify the world numbers 1s, it was the men's turn to enter the track at the end of Sunday.

The poster of the day was enticing and promised an incredible spectacle. On one side we had the pair of the moment, Fernando Belasteguin and Arturo Coello and on the other, a shock pair made up of Pablo Lima and Franco Stupaczuk.

Victorious in the last World Padel Tour Madrid Master, the Hispano-Argentinian pair was counting on winning a third title on Dutch lands. After eliminating Paquito Navarro and Martin Di Nenno in the quarter-finals, as well as the Andalusians Ruiz-Gonzalez in the semi-finals, Bela and Coello did not intend to stop there.

But it was without counting on a Stupa and a Pablo Lima in great shape who, after having eliminated the world number 1 yesterday, were full of confidence.

Bela – Coello a winning association

From the outset, the Argentinian and his partner showed a solid and aggressive game, leaving few chances to their opponents of the day and taking the advantage on “el Chaqueño” and “el Cañon de Porto Alegre”.

At the end of the suspense

The second round began in the same way, featuring an intractable Bela and Coello.

However, Pablo Lima and Franco Stupaczuk had not said their last word.

Indeed while trailing 4/3 the Argentinian-Brazilian pair managed to pick up the score but at 5/5, they let their chance slip away during a punto de oro which would have allowed them to regain the advantage. This error will be fatal because their rivals accelerated the game and won the second set, thus offering themselves a third coronation this season.

Final score: 6/2 - 7/5

The coming week, the players will drop their suitcases in Santander and, given the performances of Bela and Coello at the moment, one wonders if they will put the cover once again for a fourth title.

And you, do you think that Bela and Coello will continue their fantastic epic in Cantabria?
