After three tournaments played on the circuit, we realize that the fight for the Master Final should be tighter than ever. It is increasingly difficult to predict who will beat whom, the proof that the level is rising.

Big games every round

Indeed, some pairs perform feats like Juan Martin Diaz / Nieto who beat Chingotto / Tello. A rather unexpected victory against one of the most formidable pairs on the circuit. Yet just after they lost to Capra and Sanchez who were not really confident at the start of the tournament!

In the same vein, the Moyano / Rico pair who beat Botello / Ruiz, a pair installed in the Top 10 for a while now and who had just crushed Arturo Coello and Miguel Lamperti, one of the most fit duos of this beginning of the year !

We can also talk about Belluati and Garrido who were in the rough by not winning a match, but who easily dominate the FIP Gold finalists of Jaén, Antonio Fernandez Cano and José Garcia Diestro! And they are not the only ones to create a surprise during the first tournaments of the WPT.

Redistributed cards?

From one tournament to another, it seems that the cards are completely redistributed. Pairs in bad shape on one tournament, outdo each other on the next one and vice versa.

There is also an important factor to take into account: the playing conditions, which differ greatly from one tournament to another. For example, the pitch was fast in Madrid but relatively slow in Vigo. As a result, some pairs will perform better in some tournaments, and less in others. Which is also interesting for the spectators, because it leaves suspense and allows to see very close matches.

Note the mastery of Bela / Sanyo, who won in Madrid and Vigo. Victories in two tournaments under opposite conditions which prove their extraordinary adaptability. At the same time in view of their track record and the years they have spent on the circuit ...

However, not all experienced players do as well as they do, you just have to see Agustin Gomez Silingo and Mati Diaz… It must also be said that more and more young people are able to play the leading roles , of course we think of Leal / Semmler and their exceptional career, but also of Arturo Coello, Miguel Yanguas and Ivan Ramirez etc.

Finally, the Punto de Oro, and the ever more professional preparation of the pairs mean that we will certainly still have surprises for the next tournaments. The fight for the Master Final promises to be extremely tight at this rate!

Girls not spared

This phenomenon is also present in female paintings. The best example is of course the victory in Vigo of Patty Llaguno and Virginia Riera. We can also mention Aranzazu Osoro / Victoria Iglesias and Tamara Icardo / Delfi Brea who climbed twice in the semi-finals in 2021. Conversely, Marta Marrero and Marta Ortega are struggling, as are Eli Amatriain and Sofia Araujo, or veterans Carolina Navarro and Cela Reiter.

Delfi Brea Tamara Icardo motivation

Several pairs have playing cards and it is obviously very interesting for the suspense and the spectacle.

If it is difficult to draw conclusions after only three tournaments played, we still see that the level is rising on the World Padel Tour, and this is obviously not to displease us!
