Timeo Fonteny and Yoan Boronad are the promises of padel French. Born in 2007, they intend to invest the French top 10 quickly, with the valuable support of Alain Henry on the bench.

An encouraging result at the Worlds

Padel Magazine : Why did you decide to play together?

Yoan :“Three years ago we played under 12 at the French Championships. Afterwards, we were both taken to the France team. From there we played pretty well in the Open. We won 6/1 5/2 40-15, and we lost the match against the Spaniards who made the final behind. We got along very well on and off the pitch. I found a campus at Perpignan to work more, and Timeo agreed."

Padel Magazine : Who proposed to the other?

“Our two fathers used to talk at the edge of the field, when we played together at the Cap d'Adge on a P500, and my dad told him about this campus with Alain Henry and the Mas club. Timeo's father was interested, and from there things fell into place naturally.”

A new international project

Padel Magazine : It was also a project in which you imagined yourself, Timeo?

Timaeus : "I have been playing since five years. So it was my dad who told me about it in the beginning and I was really motivated to do it. I wasn't training enough with only two sessions a week. In Perpignan it will be a sport-studies with four sessions plus the physical.

Padel Magazine : I imagine you will want to test yourself internationally.

Yoan:“I spoke about it with Alain Henry. His ambition is to make us play the young Catalan circuit to be able to compete with the best of our age in the region. So we will have more experience when we get to the Worlds. The idea is to gain experience as a team.”

“Alain will travel with us to the FIPs and to the tournaments in Catalonia. The project is getting more serious.”

Padel Magazine : Do you have any goals for the next few years?

Yoan :“We are 160 and 134. Our ambitions are to go to the maximum of our capacities. Physically I can be much more present.”

Time: “I even have to buy myself a physical. My goal is to be at least top 10 in France. Internationally it would be to participate in a WPT or Premier Padel. "

See you at European Championships in Valencia next October where unless surprise, we should find these two players to represent the France team.
