Cyril Hanouna talks about his beginnings in padel with Johan Bergeron, his love of competition and sends a little message to HEAD…
Bergeron / Hanouna at Head Padel Open...
Johan Bergeron: We don't even know how we got there. We played together 3 years ago in Mougin. Cyril had just started.
Cyril Hanouna: It was my first padel tournament.
JB: So for the final stages of the Head Padel Open, I was offered to play with Cyril and I don't know who worked behind it to make it happen. And then things happened quite naturally.
CH: And since then, we haven't left each other. We've been together all the time for 8 days. We sleep together, we eat together… I'm taken from Johan.
The padel bug
JB: You have to know that he is really into padel. We had a conversation in the car that blew me away. He was talking to me about the guys in the French top 20.
CH: I know the French padel rankings by heart. For 3 years, I've been hooked, I'm going all in. I don't stop, because there's a lot of room for improvement.
“A great competitor”
JB: I think he is a very big competitor. No matter what he does in life, when he is on the padel court he wants to win. I think he prefers to play badly and win, than to play well and lose.
CH: Yes that's for sure. After playing badly… anyway, I always play badly whether I lose or win. (laugh). But here I feel that we are going to play badly, but that we are going to win.
JB: As long as we win, it's good!
CH: We come for the result, but also for the atmosphere. I meet all my padel buddies, we laugh, we don't take ourselves too seriously. That's everything I like. I'm waiting for the racket with my name on it at Head. (laughs)
