As we mentioned to you a few days ago, the pair Alejandra Salazar / Gemma Triay bowed out. It was through an Instagram post that the Minorquina announced the news to her fans. A little later, it's the turn ofAlejandra Salazar to speak out about this separation.

“This team deserved a different ending”

The native of Madrid, who has just recovered from her elbow surgery, seems more than saddened by this news. It is with strong words, full of emotions, that the Spaniard spoke about her Social Media :

“As you already know, Gemma Triay and I have decided to go our separate ways. I think this pair deserved a different ending, on the track and fighting to the finish like they always have. I can only respect and accept this decision which is part of our daily life as professional players. I thank Gemma and our entire “Triazar” team for all the good times experienced during these almost three years. […] It's a very difficult moment for me, because I'm coming out of an elbow injury that I've been dragging on for two years. And it is in this situation that I relate even more to the beautiful values that sport has brought me for more than 20 years: combativeness, effort, empathy, teamwork, self-criticism, ability to surpass myself and respect”.

Salazar Triay

Questioned by our colleagues from Brand, a few days ago, the Madrilenian confided in this separation:

"Gemma had told me that she started the year with me and wanted to finish it with me, and that we would see for the 2024 season."

"After Premier Padel from Madrid, we got together and we decided to continue together. After the Malaga Open was over, we were supposed to go on vacation for a few days and come back now to train for the Finland Open 1000. However, during this rest week, she called me to say that she was sorry, but that she wanted to continue with Marta."

“It pains me that I am not given the opportunity to see if my elbow is better, because I would be the first to retire if it was not […]. I end on this little bitter note.”

“I was not happy to continue with Alejandra”

Following these remarks in the famous Spanish daily, the response of Gemma Triay did not wait. The native of Menorca gave the reasons that led her to put an end to this association so loved by the public.

“My doubts are not new and stem from other things that we had been dragging on since last season, but which remained in the background, as we managed to finish in first place.

At the microphone of our colleagues, Gemma confirmed what her ex-teammate was saying about the decision to continue together when they saw each other during Madrid Premier Padel. Nevertheless, it looks like something was wrong with the Spaniard. “Monday, I went to train with Marta, and told her after our session that I was going to continue the adventure with Ale. But that's when I realized I wasn't happy with the decision I had just made.. "

After several days of reflection, Gemma announced to Alejandra that she no longer wished to continue with her. “I'm not comfortable with this decision, I'm not happy anymore, I thought it was hard to leave behind everything we've been through. […] It wasn't a pleasant meeting for anyone, but we didn't argue or disrespect each other. Once we finished chatting, within half an hour I called Marta to tell her that I was continuing with her. "

"What hurts me is that people think I ended the project because of his injury."

She ends with her words: I recognize that I had taken a direction then changed my mind afterwards. I would have liked to do otherwise”
