The Bastien Blanqué – Adrien Maigret pair got off to a good start yesterday during the FIP Rise Canet.

Indeed, following a smoothly conducted game, the French manage to climb to the quarter-finals by winning their first match against Zuazua / Martinez 6/4 7/5. Asked about their post-victory impressions, the two tricolors confided in the microphone of Padel Magazine.

“We had a solid game”

MA: “The Spaniards were playing very well. They went through the qualifying board. We were surprised at the level of play, we knew they would play well but they played a very good game. At the beginning we also had to get used to the playing conditions because it was our first game in this tournament. Mistreated at the start of the game, we still managed to hold our service games with the decisive points. Bastien then raised his level of play throughout the match, he was monstrous. We had a pretty solid match, winning in two sets. »

BB : “Adrien has a more aggressive game and that allows me to project myself forward and I find that absolutely not disturbing because we have been playing a few tournaments together recently and it's going very well, I'm very happy with it. In the attack phase, we are efficient because we are two good volleyball players. We smash well. For the moment everything is well. »

"It's a chance for me to play with Bastien"

AM : “It's been a few years now that I haven't played with a partner of Bastien's level. Of course, I respect all my former partners, but it's a chance for me to be able to play with him. He adapts to me because I will attack a lot and he will mainly maneuver on the left. I'm lucky to have a good volley and a good vibora and it is on these points that I was very strong today. We communicate and we try to put things in place. I have less preparation than Bastien but I'm hanging on. »

Adrien Maigret and Bastien Blanqué winners at the P1000 in Marville

BB: “Before Roland-Garros we had gone to Amsterdam to play the FIP. We like to have this side of preparation. A few days ago we did the Marville P1000 to get back into the rhythm and play together again. We won the competition which is very good and we saw what we needed to improve. Today it went well, it must continue. »

Adrien Lean

MA:  “I'm motivated at the moment and I want to take advantage of being able to play with Bastien in order to improve myself, so yes I am indeed a perfectionist. It's true that even if we win on a good point, I find that sometimes we used three shots too many when I have a smash to slam and I do a push that adds extra shots, it can leave luck the opponent to win the point. That's why sometimes I'm not happy because afterwards we have to perform miracles behind and it's Bastien who does it too. I have the impression of putting him in difficulty… But hey, it's my character too (laughs). It must be said that playing with Bastien calms me down a lot. We encourage each other.

The duo will play their quarter-final against seeded 1 Mercadal / Mouliaa today from 15:30 p.m.

This meeting will be followed live HERE.
