The 2023 season of padel is about to be launched. After the announcement of calendar (provisional) of the circuit of Fabrice Pastor is le World Padel Tour which communicated its roadmap for 2023. Both circuits are increasingly outward looking, but which of them is more international?

No more tournaments for the WPT (for now)

Germany, Austria, Finland, Chile or even Paraguay, we discover some new features in the WPT calendar for this 2023 season which show that the professional circuit is continuing its international expansion project. In total, 27 tournaments divided into four categories: Open 500, Open 1000, Master and the famous Master Final which will once again take place in Barcelona.

Of the 27 stages, 12 will take place in Spain (44%). For this new season, the WPT has not renewed the edition in the United States (Miami) or in Portugal (Cascais) but has decided to explore new horizons in South America and Europe. A total of 8 events will take place in Europe, 5 in South America and one stop in Asia in Abu Dhabi. It is also in the United Arab Emirates that the 2023 season will be inaugurated on February 20. The WPT will therefore move in 14 countries around the world This year.

A1 Padel : the desire to expand further abroad

All newly renamed, Fabrice Pastor's circuit currently totals 19 events for 2023. The calendar is not final and could change during the year. For the moment, there are 2 Grand Masters, 6 Masters, 10 Open and the Final Master, whose location has not yet been communicated.

For this new season, A1 Padel decided to think big with the goal of becoming “the world reference circuit”, if we are to believe the words of its president Fabrice Pastor. Of the 19 events, the circuit will travel to 13 different countries, with visits to Africa (Senegal, South Africa), South America (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay), North America (Panama, USA, Mexico) and Europe (Spain, Monaco, Switzerland, Sweden and Italy).

Conclusion

Even if the WPT will visit 14 countries, against 13 for A1 Padel, the circuit of Fabrice Pastor, which offers 8 dates less, is in terms of ratio the most focused on the international.

We note all the same that for the first time, most stages of the WPT (56%) will take place outside of Spain. But as often, the circuit remains very centered on Spain where, it must be recognized, the majority of professional players reside.

For his part, Fabrice Pastor wishes to extend his international circuit as much as possible with new projects in Panama, Senegal and Brazil. Only 3 stages will be in Spain, which underlines the ambition of the president of A1 Padel to be exported all over the world!
