Alix Collombon and Carla Mesa had an exceptional match to beat the 3rd world pair at the Chile Open, Martita Ortega and Bea Gonzalez.

The latter, however, came out of a very good week in Argentina and were among the favorites for this Open. Except that… the Franco-Spanish pair managed to come back in a badly embarked match by inflicting a severe 9/0 on them.

Alix comes back to us on his match:

We tried to work well tactically before this game.

We are really happy with the reaction we had in this match because, down 6/4 2/0, we managed to play 9 games in a row.

We were leading 3/0 in the 3rd set.

We mostly managed to stay calm when we were behind.

We lobbed very well. And then it must be said, Carla started doing inhuman lobs to us which bothered Bea and Martita a lot.

I was solid. I played well in the important moments. It's our best match with Carla. It's a victory that feels good in the head. We beat a pair that is playing very well at the moment and coming out of a big final in Argentina.

I have already beaten them twice with Jessica Castello. It's my best victory with Carla obviously. But every time I beat Bea and Martita, these are necessarily my best victories.

Tomorrow, we will try to get this half against Brea / Araujo.

Even if they play very well, it's not like playing a quarter against the first world pair for example. So there may be an opportunity for us, even if Brea and Ajaujo remain favorites.

If we pass, then it would be my first semi-final.
