A look back at the interview with Amélie Detrivière, conducted by her former teammate Mélissa Martin during the stage of the Cupra Padel Point Tour which took place last Saturday at Padel N Block.

The captain of the French women's team for the Senior European Padel Championships plus looked back on her start to the season, her separation from Mélissa, her association with Camille Sireix and her goals for 2023.

The separation with Mélissa Martin

We had a rather chaotic start to the season together. We weren't necessarily in tune with what we both wanted. It was complicated to find in my opinion a real positive energy and I felt that we were sinking into something that was not positive for both of us.

It must be said that I also had an opportunity to play with Camille Sireix who called me and I tried the adventure with her.

A positive start to the season with Camille

Camille is based in Barcelona so I've been there already twice for two weeks to train together because it's true that it's something I didn't know at all. We also did three tournaments together: two FIPs and a P2000. It's going crescendo! That is to say that we get to know each other, it's the beginning and it's going very well. There are plenty of others (tournaments) coming this summer so let's see how it goes.

Objective: to do more international tournaments

I want to see the level precisely on other circuits. In France, we know that it's getting denser, that it's getting more and more difficult and it's nice to see other types of games, especially in Spain, mBut even in the Nordic countries where it's also aggressive so there it is, it's good to see a little bit of what's going on and to confront players who are often more experienced. It's good for having a larger volume of play.

All out for the Senior European Padel Championships!

As a goal, I have the European Championships in the very short term because there are the European Senior Padel Championships in a week and I am captain of the women's team. We want to get a medal, do better than last year. We did a training camp on the Arcachon basin where all the girls managed to make themselves available and during which we tested different compositions and we trained well, it was great. Now, direction Alicante!

For the rest, I always have the same objectives at the start of the year, which is to do the best I can and then depending on the results, come what may. I know that the level is more and more complicated and my goal is to really continue to progress, have fun and then afterwards, it will only be a bonus !
