A few days ago during an interview granted to our colleagues from Trademarks, Fernando Belasteguin spoke about his current state of form as well as his great relationship with Arturo Coello. For a month and a half, the 43-year-old has been amazing the public with very good results.

Indeed, for a few weeks the Argentinian and the Spaniard have impressed in the 20×10 by winning two consecutive titles in Madrid and Amsterdam. In addition, last weekend, the two players still managed to climb to the final of the Santander Open. Today, all eyes are on the Hispano-Argentinian pair because of their very good performances but also because of the many rumors that are shaking the web about a possible separation at the end of the season.

A Coello-Tapia association ?

Arturo Coello is one of this year's revelation players and it seems that the native of Valladolid is making an impression on both the public and his little comrades. This powerful and technical player is increasingly hurting his opponents and has become over time an absolute weapon for his partner Fernando Belasteguin. Large left-hander (1,90 m), he can thus cover a good part of the ground and bring additional aggressiveness in the game of the pair.

Indeed, the legend of Pehuajo, known for having a so-called “older” style of play, favoring patience and the construction of the point, can find himself in difficulty at times. This is the case when the playing conditions are faster and Bela is up against players with considerable striking power. Arturo Coello thus proves that the "boss" was right to bet on him because, for many aficionados, the young player is a nugget who only wants to shine and who, over time, will most likely be able to reach the top of the padel World.

Coello Tapia earliness WPT 2022
Are we going to a Coello Tapia tandem

For a few days, rumors have been flooding the web evoking a possible separation of the two players. Arturo Coello could take off and team up with another very promising player on the circuit, considered a true genius of the pala: Agustin Tapia. However, for the moment none of the players has confirmed this hypothesis.

Asked about this possible union, Fernando Belasteguin still wanted to give his opinion: “We have already discussed the subject him and me and I told him that I will not be a brake on his sports career. He had already confided to me that if one day, Galan or Tapia called him to play with him, it would make him very happy to be able to say yes".

He then added: “When he saw that he had the opportunity to play with Tapia, he got in touch with him. The latter will give him a definitive answer this week. For my part, I think it's perfect and it's a very beautiful project, which could be insane. He and I have always been clear with each other. I wish him the best and above all that he can play with the partner of his choice.".

"Some people say Arturo should keep playing with me, but if he wants to play with Tapia, there's nothing else to say except let him play with whoever he wants."

But who will Bela play with in 2023?

This is the big question of the moment.

If the rumor of their separation is confirmed, we of course wonder who Fernando Belasteguin would play with. The Pehuajo native was asked about it during his Marca interview.

“So, 2023 is a long way off for me, and I'm aware that a lot can happen because there are still a few tournaments left, (5 WPTs, and 2 Premier Padel). I want to finish with Arturo with the best possible results”.

Ruiz belasteguin
Fernando Belasteguin and Alex Ruiz

It was to be expected, the Argentine player did not want to say more but it has been rumored for a few days that Bela would have set his sights on another very promising left-hander on the circuit, Alex Ruiz. This seems logical when you know that Fernando Belasteguin greatly appreciates playing with left-handers (Juan Martin Diaz, Pablo Lima, and Arturo Coello). However, at the moment, no confirmation has been made from the two players. Could it be possible that the native of Málaga leaves his compatriot and friend Momo Gonzalez, whom he has known for a long time and with whom he can train easily because they are from the same city?

This still seems possible since according to our information, Sanyo Gutierrez would have views on the partner of “Captain America”. Since the announcement of the separation of Paquito Navarro and Martin Di Nenno, we are witnessing as usual a game of musical chairs which puts the planet padel in turmoil and allows fans to give free rein to their wildest speculations.

And you, do you think we could see the pairs Coello–Tapia and Belasteguin–Ruiz landing next season?
