Fernando Belasteguin is a true optimist. Despite being 44 years old, the greatest player in the history of our sport believes the best may still be ahead of him.

While his two most emblematic teammates, Pablo Lima and Juan Martin Diaz, have announced that they will end their careers at the end of the season, the native of Pehuajo is not done with the padel professional. Indeed, he intends to play one more season:

“I am sure of one thing: I want to play until December 2024. I still feel good physically, despite being 44 years old. I want to continue to take care of myself as I have always done, in order to be able to compete with young people of 20 or 22 years old. I am lucky that my wife and my children are ready to make sacrifices for another year to allow me to complete this stage at 45 years old."

Play until 45, but not to do extras. Bela persists and signs. The sayings that he was holding three months ago have not changed. The man who was sixteen years during the world number 1 of padel believes the best is yet to come. He repeated it again a few days ago, this time to our colleagues from the newspaper El Grafico :

"But while I may be a bit of a dreamer, I'm confident the best of my career can come in the next 18 months."
