Finalists of the 2022 French Championships, Benjamin Tison and Johan Bergeron return to the lost meeting against Blanqué / Leygue at the microphone of Mario Cordero.

“They deserve their victory”

Padel Magazine : Benjamin, what went wrong with this meeting?

Benjamin Tison:"In the heat, it's difficult to make a very intelligent analysis… They played well, they played their match, they deserved the victory. It's a set: they both played very well and missed very little, and also had a lot of success in very important moments. It may be that they went looking for them a little more so we must congratulate them.

Last year, it fell on our side. This year, it was quite tight, we had break points on the first… The truth is that we didn't play as well as we can. It was seen from the outside, many told me. We had a great attitude, we fought, we almost ran a game where we were less strong. They were better today, the proof they won. It's the first time that Jo has lost in a French Championship, it bothers me that it's with me but it doesn't affect the great year I'm having either. You always have to have a winner and a loser, and they deserved their win I think today.”

“They grabbed us by the throat”

Padel Magazine : Jo, the series stops, we hope for you that it will resume next year. It played a lot in your diagonal, at one point Ben was only touching very few balls, what was the coach saying in terms of tactics?

Johan Bergeron :“I think that beyond the tactics, there is also the commitment that they put in and that we did not put in. When we started the match I did not feel very comfortable. They took us by the throat right away, they didn't miss a thing. We're running behind the score, maybe we can turn the game around but like Ben said, they fully deserve their victory. They were better than us in almost everything.”

Padel Magazine : Benjamin you were a little in the fridge, and in the second you made some rather unusual mistakes. Were you more tense than usual?

Benjamin Tison "No, it's true that I can do better on two or three points to turn the match into second, I made four or five bad choices when Jo was good. As for the fridge, I don't know, there are tactics put in place, as Jo says it's above all also the intensity that we put in, they had a good match. We don't realize but we have a break point in the first set despite being behind. There is a game during which we have four break points… These are small details. As you say, if we play ten times it doesn't give the same result ten times. That's the beauty of sport. If I come back next year, it will be with Jo!”
