While the championships of France started this Friday 27 September in Paris, Padel Magazine went to meet a player for whom this deadline is very important. François Authier, currently No. 11 French, hopes that these championships will allow him to go back in the top 10. It also aims to titillate the leaders of the discipline and why not, invite themselves to the team of France. Meet.

Adrien Pittore, for Padel Magazine : Hello Francois. You will be at the championship of France this weekend. What are your ambitions in relation to this great deadline?

François Authier: This will be my 3e or 4e championships of France. I have not missed a single one yet. I hope never to miss one. I play with Pierre-Etienne Morillon (French 23e), a player who plays for longer than me. By laughing a little, we would like to win, especially against his friend Johan Bergeron. But more seriously, reaching the quarter-finals would be pretty good.

The gap is widening with those who play in Spain. "

François Authier, No. 11 French, in the running at the French championships

Adrien: We know that you are quite taken by your work at Esprit Padel. How do you manage your preparation and have you changed anything to perform in the padel ?

François: It's difficult because there are a lot of players who play a lot more than me. Some train in Spain and the gap is widening more and more. But I try, as best I can, to play as many tournaments as possible and reach my goals. This year, I was able to surround myself with a physical trainer, Justin Marlot, who will follow me all year to try to improve myself physically.

Adrien: Besides the sporting side, you also lead an entrepreneurial life with Esprit Padel, in the Lyon suburbs. Do you have any ongoing projects that will soon see the light of day?

François: We intend to develop the activity as much as possible padel here in Saint-Priest. In particular thanks to the manager Sébastien Cornet and Geoffrey Gilan, the 3rd who works with us, who manages all the communication part and who is very important for the club.

Adrien: You are currently the French n ° 11. What are your short and long term goals?

François: Re-integrating the top French 10 is part of my goals. It's important for me, for my game, for my work. For that, it is necessary to go through the championships of France. But I also aim, one day, integrate the team of France. A hard goal to reach.

For info: the pair Authier / Morillon entered the running on Friday 27 September and will play his quarter against the Parisian pair Tison / Maigret tomorrow.
