Alix Collombon / Jessica Ginier and Bastien Blanqué / Johan Bergeron keep their crown by winning the French Championships of padel 2018 in Toulouse Padel Club. Quite similar courses where the two pairs will not have lost a single set during this entire Toulouse campaign.

Ginier / Collombon: Contract completed

The French champions of padel 2017 won everything this year when they took part in the French events. Jessica Ginier and Alix Collombon were therefore the big favorites of the competition. And we can say that they delivered an almost perfect copy ...

The final was surprisingly surprising. First, the champions of France were jostled in the final against Audrey Casanova and Mai Vo. It had been a long time in France that this was not the case.

And then, we had a Mai Vo of the big days. Its small size hides a Herculean strength. She hurt a lot in the opposing ranks. It's Jessica Ginier who speaks it best:

Mai took us by the throat from the first points. Normally, we are the ones who hit the strongest ... But Audrey and Mai arrived on the ground trying to fight our own game.

Audrey Casanova also made a very good match. On the right, she has managed to take chances and hit the ball hard at times. Pretty amazing when you know his game while mastery. She has done violence and successfully. This match must be a reference for Audrey and Mai in upcoming matches.

But obviously, despite all these tactical choices, Jessica Ginier and Alix Collombon remain above for the moment in France and they win in 2 sets their final.

Victory 7/6 6/4. They became for the second time in a row French Champion of padel.

Direction Barcelona for Alix who is leaving to train and prepare for the next international padel.

Blanqué / Bergeron: Winning return!

This victory is certainly "one of the most beautiful"Tell us the two winners of the day Bastien Blanqué / Johan Bergeron.

We had this year, ups and downs. Challenges too. We were not necessarily the favorites in this competition, even if we knew that it was going to be played very little. And we deliver in the final a perfect performance. That's wonderful.

The pair Blanqué / Bergeron has indeed achieved a competition masterfully. Not a set left on the road. She unrolled and shows that she is well back after complicated periods.

What surprised was the aggressiveness of the champions of France. While playing against the Parisian pair deemed to be the most aggressive, she managed to change things perfectly. Even more astonishing, the Maigret / Trison pair, taken at their own game. It is certainly a first for the Parisian pair, surprised from the first points of the match.

That may be the key to their success in the final:

Do not let anything pass and take the Parisians by the throat from the first point. A tactic that has jostled them.

Yes but still it is necessary to know how to do it ... And Bastien Blanqué and Johan Bergeron proved that they had developed new munitions.

On the Paris side, Adrien Maigret and Benjamin Tison start the first set with the handbrake. The balls are either too long or too short. And behind Blanqué / Bergeron sanctions at the slightest failure.

However, in the semi-final against Dimitri Huet and Mathieu Lapouge, Benjamin and Adrien amazed by their rhythmic play. But against Bastien and Johan, it is not enough.

We can say that the match starts in the second set for the IDF pair. She will have the break in her pocket and will get 2 set balls ... But the Lyon pair will manage to win the break thanks to an exceptional point of Johan Bergeron (with certainly a maximum of success too).

The tie-break is tense, tight ... But Blanqué / Bergeron eventually prevails. Victory 6 / 1 7 / 6.

No plan B ....

When the game is ripped, Parisians can not change their game to limit the breakage, the time it comes back. The first set went too fast for the Parisians (6 / 1). They have the hand and the talent to be able to offer several styles of play when their aggressive game does not work or is not enough.

IDF: 3 pairs in the top 5

Among men, the Ile de France region was particularly successful since it managed to place 3 pairs in the top 5 of the 2018 French championships: Maigret / Tison in 2, Huet / Lapouge in 3 and J. Maigret / Auradou in 5 The Paris region proves that it has certainly become the strongest region in terms of the number of competitive pairs at the highest French level.

Dimitri Huet was certainly one of the revelations in this tournament. We knew he was very dangerous, but he proved alongside Mathieu Lapouge that he could be one of the best French players. Recall that the Parisian pair will include Jérôme Ferrandez and Jérémy Ritz in 1 / 4.

The Lyon region is celebrating since for the 2e consecutive year, it is pairs of the region that win the championships of France. Finally they are the same pairs.

Finally, Toulouse Padel Club which hosted these French championships of padel, was as usual perfect. An exceptional club and an ideal infrastructure for fans of padel.
