We often talk about the  Sweden  as one of  countries where padel is developing the most . A surge of the population towards this sport if  easy  to understand and  high-end padel clubs  flourish all over the country.

These last 5 years have been  explosive  for Swedish padel. He is the national coach  Andréas Johansson  who explains it.

A recreational padel

Padel has grown in recent years and is now known by most of the population. These last 6 months have been incredible. Padel touches all generations, from the youngest to the oldest, families, friends, neighbors, businesses, everyone meets on the slopes to have a good time; recreational padel is all the rage.

Will this momentum ever stop?

At least not at the moment. It is currently happening in Sweden what happened in Spain in the 2000s. Investors see a new source of income, the clubs are emerging very quickly. Today there is more demand than supply so everything is fine for these clubs which can afford to apply slightly higher prices than elsewhere especially during peak hours.

It is possible that 2021 will be as strong as ever, but after that padel will stagnate, prices will be more competitive and municipalities will certainly create their own centres that will compete with private ones.

A few facts :

These figures are given by Matchi which is the most widely used software in Sweden with more than 80% of the market.

Since 2017, the number of unique players who have made a reservation has more than doubled.

In 2019, there were more than 900 reservations. A figure that should further increase in 000 and 2020.

The number of padel courts available on the platform has increased from 88 in 2015 to 1 today.

Size clubs

This is certainly the strength of Sweden right now. The clubs of the big cities are huge centers which often have more than 15 tracks, and of course indoors. Places with high quality facilities, designed to please, meet up, share good times over a drink or simply by watching friends play.

The concept of padel in Sweden is now geared towards padel for everyone, for leisure, with competitions coming second.
