In the semi-final of the senior European championships + in La Nucia (Spain), the French women faced the formidable Italian team this morning. THE REVENGE OF 2022! AND WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED!

The French were simply exceptional and we saw two very intense matches.

Dechaume / Lalanne puts France on the right track

In the first match, Alexia Dechaume and Catherine Lalanne got off to a great start, leading 3/0. Then, the Italians settled and chained 5 games in a row to lead 5/3. A blow to morale. But the following 2 games were fantastic in terms of fighting spirit for the French team and the bench which was on fire at every point.

At 5 all, the French were trailing 40/0 but managed to come back to score to take the lead, 6/5. The exchanges intensified and France concluded the first set, relieved. The second set was also hotly contested, but the tactics were now in place: Alexia prepared the points admirably and “Cath” came to conclude in percussion. 7/5 6/3, first game won.

Lambregts / Sorel concludes perfectly

In the second game, the experienced Emmelien Lambregts and Géraldine Sorel also started their game very well, leading 3/0. They continued to lead with some nice volley aggression from Emmy on the Italian left-hander, and our national Geraldine managed to hinder the right-hander with her famous bandeja “made in Gege”. First set won by France, 6/3.

The second set saw the Italians without a tactical solution and with great difficulty in returning the services of our French women. The exchanges remained intense, but the match point was a reflection of this great victory: a point from Emmelien Lambregts who concluded this superb match and this meeting, and thus put into practice to the letter the state of conquering spirit driven by Captain Amelie Détriviere.

The third match, without stake, will not take place in order to preserve the forces present.

Head to the final tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. against Greater Spain! Vaooooooosss!!!
