Just like his now former partner, Fernando Belasteguín also returned to the reasons for his separation from Sanyo in an interview with Olé Padel.

The native of Pehuajó deplores a lack of communication, without however denying his share of responsibility.

And the one who will now share the track with young Mike Yanguas assures understanding of the position of his compatriot and explains the reasons for this separation.

Absence from the Granada Open 1000

Regarding his absence from the Granada Open 1000 due to a muscle injury, Belasteguín assures that he is getting better.

"I'm doing well. Already on Thursday of last week I had an ultrasound and there was progress. And this Monday, there are others, and the wound has finally healed.

It was a small injury, but which did not allow me to go to Granada against all odds. I was able to play again padel, I was given the green light and I'm very happy to be better again.

By not going to play in Chile and Paraguay, the week after La Rioja, I took things in hand and we coordinated with the physical trainer to do two very hard weeks of pre-season and then we released.

But the Monday before the Granada Open 1000, Belasteguín undergoes a new ultrasound. He pursues :

"I did an echo and was told 'it's a grade 1 injury, in ten days it will be fine'. After seven days, I was already making basket with Miguel Sciorilli. Both Monday and Tuesday everything was under control.

On Wednesday I traveled to Kuwait for an awards ceremony and on Thursday morning when I returned I had another check before leaving for Alicante. There, they advised me since I would be on a trip, to pay attention to my physical condition for the next few days. That I start on Sunday and only play one game on Monday to get into the rhythm.

I communicated this in the WhatsApp group with Sanyo and our coaches.”

“Where I was wrong was that on Friday and Saturday, because of the urge to want to come back faster, I did more than I should have and the injury bothered me again. . It wasn't something strong, but it bothered me. So I warned immediately.”

It was following another ultrasound, a few days later, that Belasteguín told Sanyo and the coaches that he ultimately could not participate in the tournament.

Sanyo's radical decision-making

“From the moment the doctors told me it would be better in ten days, I think I underestimated the injury and tried not to worry him (Sanyo).

But where I went too far was doing the extra exercises on the days I should have stopped. This is where I made a mistake. I always wanted to do more: sometimes it allowed me to recover more quickly from injuries, but here it didn't.

When we spoke to Sanyo he understood that there was a miscommunication and the situation was not handled well. I recognized that it was possible and I took my share of the responsibility that on Friday and Saturday (before the Granada Open) I did more than I had to.

Bela's new injury, added to a very good young player (Momo González) who called Sanyo to play with him, would therefore be the reasons for their separation.

Place now in Belasteguín-Yanguas

About his association with Mike Yanguas, Belasteguín explains:

“Once we knew we wouldn't continue playing (with Sanyo), three guys wrote to me to make the change and I settled with Mike (Yanguas).

Yanguas was my plan A. I had spoken with him in Egypt (during the NewGiza P1 Premier Padel) so that we can play together in 2023 (...).

Now we are starting with Mike in Brussels, but the logic would have been to start three months ago. But I can assure you that I am very happy.”

The opinion on the Coello-Tapia pair

“They play very well at padel.s see their association as a long-term project, which gives a lot more patience. And finally, they started by winning, which boosts the confidence even more. “
