In Rome, Marta Ortega and Gemma Triay wrote a new page in history du padel female by winning the first Grand Chelem feminine of Premier Padel. At the microphone of Padel Magazine during Madrid P1, Gemma shares her unforgettable experience and talks about the future of her association with Martita.

Padel Magazine : “Rome was a big win for you, is it the biggest win of your career?"

Gemma Triay : “Hard to say it's the big one, but yes, maybe. We were really looking forward to getting started on the Premier Padel in Italy, it was amazing. There was no better place to start.”

“For me, Italy is very special. In Rome, at the Foro Italico, it was crazy. My family came, my friends too, it was like a whole. All week I was great, it was a lot of fun, it was a very special victory.

Padel Magazine : “Do you feel that you have passed a milestone with Martita (Ortega)?"

Gem : "I think so. We've been playing together for about a month. We have participated in four tournaments with Marta, and we are progressing more and more since Toulouse. We are more and more synchronized”.

"We were lucky to have a week before Valencia where we could train and optimize our work well, which I think worked very well for our duo, allowing us to be in the best conditions. We are both very happy and we have very good feelings.”

Padel Magazine : “Did it unlock something psychological in your pair?”

Gemma: "We started in Toulouse by reaching the last four, and since then we have played finals. At no time did we experience a pair crisis. From the beginning, we started from the principle that a pair needs time and understanding to work well, and that is what we developed with Marta.

“In Toulouse we played without training together, but knowing each other and playing every week accelerated our development. The last two tournaments we have participated in have improved the quality of our game.”

Padel Magazine : “On the track you talk a lot with Marta, do you consider yourself a mentor for her?”

Gem "I don't know (laughs), you'd have to ask him! It's true that I like to talk a lot, especially when I'm comfortable. I like to reassure my partner. If I notice tactical things, I like to share them to both improve my individual level and raise the level of the pair. For a pair to work, there has to be communication on and off the pitch, and that's very important.”

Padel Magazine : “The fateful question: what will happen when (Alejandra) Salazar returns?”

Gemma: "For now, I'm enjoying the present moment. Right now I feel good, and when the time comes to make my decision, it will be a well-considered decision. For now, I have at least these two tournaments to come with Marta. We had decided to play these six tournaments, and then we will see what happens.”
