Jessica Ginier and Lucile Pothier chained a second great victory in the ladies event of the European Games and qualified for the quarter-finals to face the seeded n°2 of the tournament, the Spanish pair, Marta Barrera / Marta Caparros.

To get there, they had to play a complicated round of 8 against the Swedes Cornelia Lister and Bharak Soleymani who turned out to be tough opponents.

Victory in two sets 7/5 7/6 (7/1) after more than an hour and a half of combat in fairly significant heat conditions.

Jessica Ginier had so far played indoors. The outdoor conditions were completely different. Especially since she was coming out of a very trying match during the mixed event and therefore had a limited recovery time.

The difference was certainly made on the side of Cornelia Lister. An unknown player in the padel, but much less in tennis since she has one singles title and 25 doubles titles to her credit. The former world 72nd doubles player had less experience in padel than the other three players present on the track.

The captain of the French women's team, Robin Haziza, looks back on this victory:

“We had good and bad. Match that we made complicated. We struggled to find the right rhythm.

But this team is strong because even if they don't play their best padel, she manages to give the collar in the key moments.

And we could see it in the tie break where Jess and Lucile raised their level of play to deliver a very good tie break.

We will remember that we are qualified for the quarters to play against the Spanish No. 1 seed tomorrow and aim for a semi-final.
