Project leaders of clubs padel are sometimes faced with a choice: Put halogen or LED on their land padel.

We will see that apart from the price, LED lighting is clearly in our favor. We will tell you why.

The prices

The prices of current lamps are so variable that it is difficult to give prices.

For example, for halogen or sodium type lamps, we turn between 500 € and 2500 € each. This is to say the differences that there can be in the same way as a racket of padel first prize and a top-of-the-range racket over 200 euros.

between halogen lamps, sodium ... it must be able to go from 500 to 2500 depending on who sells them.

the interest of the LED is that there is no maintenance ... 50000 to max 10h a day it is 13 ans grosso modo

The opposite of LEDs

High consumption, much lower life (3000 h for halogens) so frequent change that can be problematic for lamps 6 / 7 m and of course all generates a significant ecological impact.

The interest of LEDs

The interest of the technicality of the street lamps LED is more to do:

- energy saving

- economy of maintenance: a light source is given for 50.000 hours thus reduced maintenance

- comfort of use the light spectra being wider than the halogen lamps, sodium ...

The comfort of the LED

We do not really think about it at first, but LED can be more comfortable than Halogen provided that there is a study beforehand. Because otherwise the LED can blind the players on the ground.

Types of products offered

- LED spotlights for pitches padel or sports halls

- Solar street lights for car parks, driveways ...

- Solar street lights with built-in enclosures for terraces

Halogens programmed to disappear?

It's Romain Taupin, commercial director of Wannapadel which foresees the complete end of halogens within 3 years. Member states voted to end “halogen bulbs made of 2018". (https://www.lesechos.fr/20/04/2015/LesEchos/21922-061-ECH_le-retrait-des-ampoules-halogenes-reporte-a-2018.htm)

As you understand, we certainly have a bias. LED has only advantages. And even if in the short term, the investment will be more important, the LED seems actually cheaper in the medium term.
