The girls' and boys' teams of the Provence Côte-d'Azur (PCA) league won the 2022 French Youth Interleague Championships.

After their victory against Occitania in the half, the PCA boys were favorites against the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes league (ARA), on the grounds of Toulouse Padel Club. However, victory smiled on ARA in the 14-year-old category, with a 6/3 6/4 success for Basile Baud and Jérémy Robert. But among their 16-year-olds, Joshua Schbeir and Timeo Fonteny won 7/5 6/3.

The match for the 18-year-olds was going to be decisive – and fierce – with a victory in three sets for Nathan Courrin and Ethan Bensoussan, 2/6 7/6 6/2, obtained in pain.

Eyes up to the sky

"In the first set, we got into the game badly, we quickly found ourselves trailing 0/4 without managing to come back., says Nathan Courrin. In the second set, we hold our serve until the tie-break in which we save two match points, 6/4 against us. And finally, we win 9/7 in this tie-break. Then, we knew how to be better in the important moments, especially on the break points where we were more serious and we ended on a good note by winning the third set.

Among the girls, victory also for the southern players Hanna Boudjema / Margaux Donne (14 years old), Eloise Marais / Kimy Barla (16 years old) and Thais Baulard-Panichi / Julie Ferrara (18 years old): these young players have indeed beaten the Occitanie 2 wins to 1, after other successes against the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté (3/0), Réunion (3/0) and Ile de France (2/1) leagues.

Prize-giving for the ladies

These two successes therefore allow the young players of Provence Côte d'Azur to triumph with style in this 2022 youth team championship. Congratulations to them and to all the competitors and organizers!
