The 69th player in the world (FIP ranking), Jérémy Scatena, looks back on his rather positive start to the 2023 season. The one who had finished the 2022 season “on the kneecaps and with some doubts“, set off again to conquer “Mount Padel".

A grueling 2022

I had a little trouble planning for this new season in 2023. I was quite tired from the previous season.

Despite the fact that it was one of my best seasons, I had some regrets at the end of the year. The satisfaction of this beginning of the year is my physical level.

After at level padel I would like to add one or two more shots to be even more impactful in my game and take a new step against players better ranked than me.

Arrived with doubts in Qatar

I arrived a few days from this Major with many doubts and uncertainties.

But I worked a lot mentally to be able to approach the tournament with a different philosophy: I have between 10 and 16 Majors left to play in my career.

Do better, it's going to be difficult

I'm going to be perfectly honest: even if I fight on the track to find solutions, improve myself, find new moves, I don't think I can do better in terms of the international ranking.

I managed to do Top 100 on the World padel Tour (n°96) and top 70 on Premir Padel (#67). I think, and even more so for a Frenchman, that it's not so bad.

I'm here to enjoy, to have fun when I'm on the pitch, I think that's a fundamental value in sport.

We sometimes forget that it's a game. When I see things that way, I can be really strong.

Dylan Guichard has something special

Le padel grows every year and whatever happens, getting started on the international circuit is an enriching experience. Personally, I believe a lot in Dylan Guichard, I played him in 2019 in Angers and I thought he had something special. I have a special relationship with him and I hope he will go as high as possible…

invest in Premier Padel

In 2023, I will continue to invest in events Premier Padel, do some tournaments of the International Federation of Padel (FIP Tour), and if I can some events of the A1 circuit Padel.

But as you know, my time is divided between my life as a player, but also as an entrepreneur in the construction of padel.

Nice to see how the padel develops in France

I remain invested as a player, but I also have my activity in 100%padel which is growing more and more and it is very positive.

Soon, we will see clubs hatch. For the enthusiast, player, technician that I am, it's very pleasant to see how the padel grows in France. And in a way, I find that having a lot of experience as a player helps a lot to set up projects padel. And the reverse is also true: sharing with project leaders also helps me to continue my personal development as a player.

We often talk about the metropolis, but on the Islands, we see that we are taking a big step. I am of course thinking of Réunion, which has become a land of padel indisputable, but also to other islands which could very seriously enter the “game” soon. We promise to talk about it again very soon!
