Jérémy Scatena, the 100th player in the world and number one in France internationally, explains “not wanting its first French place in the FFT ranking".

Astonishing? Not that much.

“I want my first place on the field”

First, I have a thought for everyone affected by the coronavirus. And the FFT must have the spirit elsewhere lately and we understand it well.

However, does life stop? Can we move forward and try to correct some organizational problems before life starts again?

While I was the 4th French in the French ranking of padel in February 2020, I find myself since March 2020 assimilated as French number one.

This ranking of number one French, I do not want it.

It is a goal for me to become one but not in this way.

You have to win the matches, beat the best. And for now, Johan Bergeron, Bastien Blanqué, Benjamin Tison and Adrien Maigret were logically in front of me.

“The FFT has played the easy card”

Indeed, the FFT wanted to do well obviously but it made the mistake of playing the card of ease with this assimilation.

The players are a little frustrated because we were not heard.

The competitors that we are want to win their place on the field.

Johan Bergeron is right not to be happy. He fought for this first French place in the ranking. And overnight, he finds himself with Jérémy Scatena assimilated number one French when he is actually the 5th French (editor's note in the classification of February 2020).

“We must not sell off the French circuit”

If we want to give value to our French circuit, we must not sell it off and say roughly to the best French players: “You are assimilated as top 10 French, whatever you do your ranking is blocked".

I think we went from one extreme to another. It is very simply necessary to provide FFT points for the players who participate in the World Padel Tour.

“The higher the WPT ranking, the more FFT points”

The higher the WPT ranking, the higher the number of FFT points, which guarantees French players who do not have the opportunity to do a lot of tournaments in France to be in the race and to do not bias the French tables.

For men, the competition is very important. It is normal that the French players who participate in international events are supported, but we must not be assimilated for the good of the competition and the respect of other players of padel remained in France.
