Le padel does his European Games debut, a historic event taking place in Krakow, Poland, starting June 21, 2023 with the first rounds. France is one of the strong nations of this competition.

A total of 80 pairs from 23 different countries will compete in three categories: men's, women's and mixed.

The tables

Here is the breakdown of the tables:

  • The men's and women's draw will consist of 32 pairs.
  • The mixed board will consist of 16 pairs.

Format of matches

Matches will be played best of three sets, with a tie-break in the event of a tie.

Spain will not be that favorite

As for the favourites, Spain will be seeded 1 in the event. However, it is important to note that this time around Spain are not as favorites as usual as the best Spanish players have opted out of this competition. This opens up the field of possibilities. Can France win the gold medal? It's not easy, because the competition will be tough. Other nations are hoping to take advantage of this situation where Spain looks more vulnerable on paper.

For both men and women, Portugal, Belgium and Sweden are nations to watch closely. However, we also observe withdrawals in all the teams, including on the side of the French players, in particular with our first French pair who preferred to concentrate on the Master of Valladolid which takes place the same week as the European Games.

Here are the dates to remember

The tournament begins on Wednesday the 21st with the bronze medal and gold medal finals taking place on Sunday the 25th (with third place matches in the morning). The opening ceremony will take place on Tuesday 20 in the evening.

All games are important

Pairs eliminated in previous rounds will continue to play in a draw that will determine the final standings.
