From 21 to 25 June 2023, le padel will make its official debut at the third edition of the European Games, to be held in Krakow, Poland. This event marks the rise of the padel as an increasingly popular sport.

More than 30 countries will take part in this first five-day competition, certainly bringing together the best players from the continent who will face off on the pitch for victory.

In addition to the men's and women's tournaments, a mixed competition will also be organized, thus confirming the path of total harmonization chosen by the International Federation of padel (FIP). The confirmation of this competition supports the strategy put in place in July 2019 by Luigi Carraro, President of the FIP, who had made the inclusion of the padel at the Olympic Games a priority. It is therefore a first step taken.

The French Tennis Federation has selected the four male and four female players who will represent France at the European Games in Poland.

It will be a historic moment since the padel will make his debut in an Olympic competition.

Under the direction of Robin Haziza, coach of the players, and Pablo Ayma, coach of the men, the FFT chose the following teams:

  • Jessica Ginier and Lucile Pothier
  • Charlotte Soubrié and Carla Touly
  • Benjamin Tison and Adrien Maigret
  • Jeremy Scatena and Thomas Leygue

Among the ladies, without much surprise and in the absence of Alix Collombon and Léa Godallier, Robin Haziza decided to bet on the Soubrié/Touly and Ginier/Pothier duos for the European Games. Indeed, these are the two pairs that have been the strongest in France at the start of the season.

The French champions, who have decided not to participate in these European Games due to the WPT Master in Valladolid which will take place at the same time, will certainly be missed by the team.

On the men's side, we find the four players who won the bronze medal in Dubai. It is of course the pair Benjamin Tison/Adrien Maigret, accompanied by two players who have always performed well on the FIP circuit, Thomas Leygue and Jérémy Scatena.
