For the European Championships of Padel 2019, the French team of padel could well achieve its best results in its history (apart from the results it sometimes obtained when favorite nations were not present).

France is a nation where the padel explodes. Its clubs are multiplying, the players are more and more numerous. And we are also fortunate to have talented players.

In addition, many players of the France team have moved to Spain.

At the ladies first, Laura Clergue showed the way to the girls. For almost 2 years, she lives in Spain. She is part of the world's top 50. Alix Collombon is the number 1 in France, but also a player who has made a lot of talk in a year on the pro circuit. And then Melissa Martin who goes to try his luck in Spain ... We see, the French become more competitive and can come to make a coup in Italy.

This weekend, during the Tennis Open Padel Soeil, we saw some new faces that could shake up the hierarchy. Spain will be European champions for both girls and boys. On paper, Portugal seems slightly favorite for second place. But we saw it in Paraguay: France is really not far.

At the men's, it was the team from Portugal before the world 2018 who said: "France has a team that has never been so strong“. Robin Haziza, Jérémy Scatena, Bastien Blanqué, Johan Bergeron and Max Moreau are training in Spain. And their level has clearly passed a milestone. Benjamin Tison is not far from Spain either. And obviously we think of Adrien Maigret who will continue to train with the superb coach Fabrice Ortiz in Paris. Let us not forget either Jérémy Ritz who showed Beausoleil this weekend that he had to be counted on. The two other nations which can trump second place: Italy and Portugal.

Italy have recruited players from World Padel Tour. But the team does not seem united, with huge differences in level in the team. Portugal knew how to find the loopholes to pass. If Italy does not strengthen, it seems a tone slightly behind France. Portugal is certainly the most dangerous nation for France. Like France, Portugal has a homogeneous team with players who are on the professional circuit. But we remember the great victory of Tison / Maigret over pair 1 of Portugal during the World Open.

So yes, France will have to assume its role of one of the best European and even world teams in padel. Because with what she showed in Paraguay, she will necessarily be expected from now on to at least be part of the top 3.
