Team Padel Magazine had the opportunity to ask the great champion that is Miguel Lamperti what assessment he made of his 2019 season and what are his plans for 2020. Here is what he returns.

Miguel Lamperti, player 23 of the World Padel Tour, did not have the best season of his career. It will be the big absentee of this Master in Barcelona which begins Thursday. Obviously, fans will miss him.

Back on 2019 made by itself.

The 2019 season was the most complicated season of my career. I started it alongside Lucho Capra, with good progress as the season progressed. Then I had the opportunity to come back with Juani Mieres with whom I had already been playing for 3 years, and with whom I felt good. I entered it mainly for a ranking reason.

Unfortunately this choice was not the best for me because Juani was injured twice and then caught a virus which kept him out of the field for 2 days. In the end it will be 21 tournaments where we could not really play 5% if not the last in Portugal.

3 months is the time it lasted. Very difficult for me to see my ranking drop, my confidence to decrease, to be powerless in the face of the situation as well as the fact of having to train alone, and especially not knowing who I was going to play with, but hey, it happened . In short, a season mentally tough but positive on the physical level because I had no injuries.

Now I just have to recharge the batteries for the 2020 season. I will not play with Juani Mieres as some may announce, Juani with whom I of course remain on very good terms (note he will play with Juani however during the Copa Mapei, 1st tournament of the season), but as long as I was physically good I could play on the left as well as on the right (if necessary) and continue to fight for what has been most important to me since I was 12 years old .

My objective for 2020 will be to find my way back to the Final Masters because this year is the first where I have not participated. A little twinge in the heart. But I know that if I am physically good and good with my partner, we shouldn't have any problems to be competitive.

Happy Holidays to all.
