“The FIP (International Federation of Padel) announces that it will organize the European Junior Championships in October in a member country other than Sweden.

The Swedish Federation of Padel today received a very disappointing message from the FIP regarding the organization of the European Youth Championships. Despite a written confirmation saying that Sweden could organize this championship, their council finally decided to place the competition in another member country. »

A financial reason mentioned

“The FIP has decided to withdraw the event from Sweden because it does not want to co-finance it. The organization of a European championship is expensive and the Swedish Federation of Padel, in collaboration with representatives of the FIP, had drawn up a budget on which everyone agreed.

At the same time, unbeknownst to Sweden, the FIP has entered into a dialogue with another country (Spain), which has pledged to finance the entire event. The country in question has now been awarded the championship without Sweden being given a chance to discuss or respond.

The FIP said that it regrets and apologizes for the inconvenience this causes to the Swedish Federation of Padel, to its partners, its organizers and to the players and expresses its wish to co-organise a bigger event next year, as it has full confidence in its ability to organize major competitions.

The Swedish Federation is very sad and disappointed not to be able to organize the European Junior Championship and that this announcement only comes now. Despite this, she remains happy to be able to send her talented youngsters there to compete against players from other countries."
