Le padel is often compared to tennis and squash; But beware, tennis and squash are two very cardio sports that require a very good heart to run for a long time. The padel is a muscle-demanding sport but less cardio. We will say why.

Tennis / squash:

Tennis and squash are generally considered to be sports with a lot of trade and land to cover. For this the players must have a cardio very worked because otherwise after a few exchanges the tired player will throw in the towel and let go of the point. For these tennis and squash players, during an exchange there is no rest. Players are constantly in action, moving which leaves no rest. The heart can then beat very quickly.

You understand, however, everything depends on your level and your opponent

Le padel :

The peculiarity of the padel is that this sport is always played in doubles (2 against 2) on a much smaller court than tennis. This is one of the reasons why the padel is less cardio. On the other hand, due to the surface, the effects and the proximity of the players on the field, the balls are much harder and lower to play. This requires constant attention and above all a constant waiting position (bending very low on the legs).

The quadriceps and the hamstrings are used all the time! But to make it even harder, at padel we also have the explosive part of the legs which is very important! The calves with the jumps to get the smashes while contracting the abdominals, and the back which must remain strong when the player is going to play a low volley. The whole body is solicited and is contracted to its maximum to remain as precise as possible in its strokes.

Please note:

Being strong does not mean going to the room and becoming like Hulk! It means working intelligently the muscles of one's body and especially deep down. The complexity is that the player must be strong but must always keep flexibility and relaxation to keep fluidity and speed in his shots.

Depending on your template and your style of play you must adapt your physique! Do not hesitate to seek advice from professionals to progress and especially to do things well.
