The French Tennis Federation has communicated on the selected for the European Championships of padel seniors + ladies and gentlemen which take place at La Nucia in Spain, from June 12 to 17, 2023.

Remember that this is a first for the International Federation of Padel after the worlds last year, which took place in Las Vegas, with the key bronze for ladies and a 4th place for the men.

After the good performances at the worlds in 2022, the French ladies' and men's teams will try to obtain a medal in Spain for these European Championships... and why not the silver medal, if France manages to avoid Spain until the final?

However, we will note a few absences of weight, especially among the men with Romain Coirault (French top 60) who has invested a lot on the national circuit with a general high performance.

The selected ladies are

40

  • Amelie DETRIVIERE (NVA – Captain)
  • Julie PECASTAING (PCA)

45

  • Catherine LALANNE (NVA)
  • Peggy MAIGNIEN (OCC)

50

  • Emmelien LAMBREGTS (OCC)
  • Géraldine SOREL (PCA)
  • Alexandra Fouquet (OCC)
  • Alexia DECHAUME-BALLERET (PCA)

For women over 50, the selection is impressive on paper.

The selected among the gentlemen are

40

  • Mathieu ARMAGNAC (NVA)
  • Simon BOISSE (PDL – Captain)

45

  • Jean-Michel PEQUERY (IDF)
  • Sebastien CORBELLI (PCA)
  • Christopher Henry (GDE)

50

  • Cédric CARITE (OCC)
  • Frederic LORIEDO (PCA)
  • Bertrand CAPELLE (HDF)

Romain Coirault, the great absentee

Even if the competition is fierce in the over 45s, the Parisian Romain Coirault is certainly the big absentee from these European Senior Championships +. He, who is seeking a possible first French place among the +45s, is currently French n°2. He was present in two P1000 semi-finals this year, qualified in a P2000 final draw and has many victories against top 100 players such as Muesser/Wagner and Théard/Pech.
