Since a few months, Léa Godallier has disappeared from the tracks of padel And this for a good reason, since the French number 2 just became a mother.

Four months after leaving the slopes of padel, the native Tahitian plans to return to service. However, we will have to wait a few more months to find Léa Godallier on the courts. The latter tells us more about it!

News since its termination

You are doing well. I have never been so fulfilled. This might sound stupid, but having a child is the most beautiful thing that can happen. Family life is going very well and we quickly found our rhythm with Baptiste.

We have an adorable child. I don't even have to work on patience and mentality, for now, everything is really easy.

A return soon?

The operation “reconquest” has not yet been launched because I gave birth just two and a half weeks ago. I had a cesarean section so it takes time for it to heal. However, I'm really looking forward to getting back on the pitch, although there are several things I need to do first to be able to return to 100%. Especially physically speaking, we will have to do things in order.

I'm going to do abs, swim, cycle, run and then get back on the land little by little. I don't have to hurry. I have the objective of returning for the P2 of Bordeaux, at home, in my country, but I will pay attention to my body.

Any idea for a partner for his return?

Finding a partner is not only complicated when you take a break, even when you play, it's difficult. When there is a change among the world premieres, it inevitably creates a “domino effect” on the pairs behind.

I have chosen not to search for the moment, to see what's happening in the first tournaments. And then, also see how I feel. So, before I start looking for a new partner, I'm going to focus on myself the first weeks.

A new association with Alix Collombon?

I saw that Alix and Jess [Ginier] are going to play together in a tournament. Will Alix and I do the same thing? It's not impossible that we play together again, but I don't think it will happen in Bordeaux. She has his project with Julieta Bidahorria and I hope for her sake that things will go well and that this association will last as long as possible.

Playing with a French player is not part of my plans, I have 2/3 ideas of Spanish players but nothing is set in stone. There are so many changes, so many surprises, that nothing is fixed.

Léa Godallier collombon

Two players with a big gap in the rankings, an opinion?

I find it cool that an association is possible between two people who have a big difference in points. These remain special cases...

There, Alix will play with Jess who has little experience compared to her. On the other hand, we know that Julieta is not yet 100% ready, so to avoid losing a tournament, I would have done the same as Alix. I would have chosen someone I know by heart and with whom I get along really well.

I think it's a good choice, if it's a “one shot“. So yes, in a way, le padel is a sport apart. This is the good side of padel to allow an association between two players who have such a big difference in points: you can gain experience alongside a girl who has a lot of it.

Its ambitions for 2024

I don't really have any ambitions in terms of ranking. My goal will really be to return to 100% on the physical level and find a stable project with another player. From there, I can set a goal for myself.

I don't put limits on myself. This year I'm going to play half a season so I'll take whatever there is to take.

My program, from Bordeaux, will be to follow the classic calendar, to which I will add some FIPs to get back into rhythm, especially at the beginning!

Gwenaelle Souyri

It was his brother who one day told him to accompany him on a track. padel, since then, Gwenaëlle has never left the court. Except when it comes to going to watch the broadcast of Padel Magazine, World Padel Tour… or Premier Padel…or the French Championships. In short, she is a fan of this sport.
