It's the end of an era with the announcement of the retirement of one of the greatest players in the history of the padel : Juan Martin Diaz.

If you followed the Premier Padel Mendoza P1, you certainly understood what was going on when Juan Martin Diaz received a tribute from the organization of the tournament.

Indeed, the player who will celebrate his 48th birthday in November has announced his retirement at the end of the season. The native of Mar del Plata, Argentina told our colleagues from Sports world :

“I will play, if all goes well, until the end of the year. Then I quit.” The primary reason for this decision? The impossibility of living up to one's expectations on the track. It must be said that a player who has had so much success finds it difficult to accept that he is no longer as competitive against the best. 'El Galleguito' retires with ease, and wants to be remembered “like a normal person”, “like a good guy”. Nor will we forget his class on and off the slopes, his very own style, his strokes of genius, and all the titles he has won!

From now on, Juan Martin will begin a whole new adventure on the side of the United States:

“I'm going to live in Miami. I moved a few days ago to get involved with Reserve Padel, a project of Wayne boich, whom I have known for more than ten years. The time had come to make my small contribution in such an important country."

It is therefore one of the greatest players in history who is ending his career, a player who will have been world number 1 for 14 years alongside Fernando Belasteguin. Chance of life, the other player with whom Bela occupied the throne of padel global, Pablo Lima, will also retire at the end of the season. Two legendary left-handers who will certainly be missed by the public.
