The Italian Luca de Meo, the former CEO of the Spanish brand SEAT, becomes Renault's new strongman. He is also an avid practitioner and fan of padel !

Who is Luca de Meo?

And if the Losange brand invested in the world of padel ? It would be a logical continuation if we look at the professional career of the Italian who has notably gone through the Spain box and the headquarters of SEAT, the subsidiary of the Volkswagen automotive group.

In the Parisian, we understand the full extent of his journey and the heavy task that awaits him.

Luca de Meo takes over the reins of a group in crisis after the Ghosn affair.

Fortunately, experience and success speak for him with already a great career in the automobile, which also started at Renault before going under the Japanese flag with Toyota.

Then, this entrepreneur at heart goes to Lancia, Fiat and Alfa Romeo. At Wolswagen and Audi, the work is so important that he becomes one of the most highly regarded personalities in the industry.

Luca de Meo, a great knowledge of the world of padel !

Luca de Meo is also the man who enabled the enormous partnership between the World Padel Tour and CUPRA! Remember! A year ago, almost to the day, the CUPRA brand (which belongs to SEAT) became the new partner of World Padel Tour. A partnership which is supposed to last until 2021.

At the time, the Italian already explained “his passion for padel”And the logic of seeing“ le World Padel Tour and Cupra, 2 recent successes, since their creation (…) contribute to the international expansion of padel".

Then there was last year, the partnership between Cupra and the International Federation of Padel from the European Championships padel in Rome, in November. This partnership was manifested by an agreement for the 2020 season on the FIP TOUR circuit.

The Mundo Deportivo is a good illustration of the relationship between the new President of Renault and the padel...

Renault and the padel : possible?

If Renault engages in padel, it will not be a first. Notably in France, where we have seen the brand invest locally in this sport several times.

We are thinking in particular of Renault Padel Open which took place in 2017 at Tennis Club La Pape (Lyon)

From now on certainly on the side of Boulogne-Billancourt, Luca de Meo could well come to tread the grounds of padel from the capital. And there is no shortage of clubs!
