It's historic. Pre-previas to the title with seven consecutive victories, including five in three sets, Jessica Ginier and Lucile Pothier have achieved a real obstacle course. This is the first time that a French pair has been crowned on the A1 circuitPadel.

Spanish indiscipline

The French were however surprised at the start of the meeting. From the start, the Spaniards break on Lucile's serve. The French pair did not lower their heads, however, and returned immediately to the match. Faced with indiscipline and nervousness de Borrero and Martinez, Lucile Pothier and Jessica Ginier take the opportunity to win the games and in turn break the numbers 1 of the circuit. The French take the lead in the first round 6/4.

An iron defense

Lucile Pothier and Jessica Ginier keep the same intensity. More enterprising and more skillful, the French dictate the game against the Spaniards who struggle against the French fury.

In this second round, the French broke the numbers 1 from the start and quickly led 3-0.

Marta Borrero and Patricia Martinez continue to chain faults. The Spaniards made 25 unforced errors. The French are unfazed in defense, the rest is history. Lucile Pothier and Jessica Ginier won in 1h30 6/4 6/3.

Jessica "It was a long week, but we are very happy, we are enjoying it now”

Lucile "For the moment nothing is planned yet, but why not take a few more steps if we can".

A future on the A1Padel ?

The French will both take 1000 points and thus potentially be part of the top 20/25 in the A1 classificationPadel from next week. Continue on the circuit, a possible option for Lucile Pothier "If all tournaments go like this, why not. We have a job, but if we can do more circuit events, we will.”

To access the Master Final, the French pair would have to be part of the top 16. To achieve this, Lucile Pothier and Jessica Ginier will have the opportunity to play:

  • The Grand Master in Italy from May 22 to 28
  • Monaco Masters from June 5 to 11
  • Swiss Open from August 14 to 20
  • Tenerife Open from September 4 to 10

We'll see what the future holds for them.
