Marta Ortega was in the spotlight, somewhat unknowingly, with his separation from Gemma Triay, announced just before the start of the season.

Now the Dr. begins a new project with Veronica Virseda, a very physical left-wing player. Marta is starting the year in a funny way, which hasn't stopped her from win his first match in Doha with her new teammate.

The Spanish player looks back with us at the start of the season…

A special start to the season

The season didn't start as I would have liked. but these things happen. However, I prefer to leave my feelings and emotions aside because in the end, it's my job.

Today, I prefer to concentrate all my strengths and thoughts in my new project because that's what motivates me. I think there is a lot of trust, that we believe in what we are doing: that is the most important thing now.

The separation with Gemma Triay

On the track, there was a lack of this desire to believe in what we were doing, there was a bit of a lack of trust between us. That's what I felt for my part anyway and it's very difficult to play this way.

The rumors really weren't very pleasant to live with. Now, I am much more serene, I think that we have served our time together and that we are now both calmer.

I feel good, I kept a good relationship with her and with the coach as well (Rodrigo Ovide).

His new association with Vero Virseda

We have known each other for a very long time, both on and off the track. We have a lot of trust in each other. We say things to each other immediately and openly, which is a very positive point.

We are two very physical players, who need to move a lot to stay active and feel good. I think it was a bit of destiny that we found ourselves together because we have the same explosiveness.

During our first match, there was a little pressure because we wanted to do things right. Afterwards, things were unblocked so it's a good gut feeling..

The season’s plan?

For now, as this is our first tournament, we want to feel carefully, we feel competitive. Then, little by little, start winning matches.

But today, the main goal is to get to know each other on the track, because we're leaving on a long-term project.

We don't have any particular objective in this tournament, other than to go as far as possible.

Marta Ortega and Vero Virseda will play again this evening, in the last rotation of the day on GrandStand 1. They will be opposed to Marta Talavan et Nuria Rodriguez for a match that promises to be very interesting.

This Tuesday, all the meetings will be followed live on the YouTube page of Premier Padel !

Gwenaelle Souyri

It was his brother who one day told him to accompany him on a track. padel, since then, Gwenaëlle has never left the court. Except when it comes to going to watch the broadcast of Padel Magazine, World Padel Tour… or Premier Padel…or the French Championships. In short, she is a fan of this sport.
