This Friday morning began the French championships in Toulouse with a more than enticing poster between two big teams. On one side we had the favorites Mélissa Martin and Amélie Detrivière, facing Marianne Vandaele and Alexia Dechaume. Both pairs gave us a real show. And it was after 2h15 of fierce battle that the Martin / Detrivière pair won 6/7 – 6/1 /6/4, with in particular a suspenseful tie-break, lost 15/13.

The two players return to the microphone of Padel Magazine on their performance.

Amelie Detriviere "It was a very tight game, we had a lot of trouble organizing ourselves and imposing our game, at least during the first set. In the second it was better and in the third run we kept our pace. Opposite, the girls played very well, it disturbed us but we are happy to have gotten out of it because it was not won at all".

Melissa Martin : “Yes it wasn't easy, it was a bit of a special rhythm, especially with Alexia who often plays in the half-volley and doesn't let anything get by. It was not easy for us and we let ourselves be a little sleepy from the start. We didn't impose our pace and personally I didn't, that explains my frustration, but we actually won. We will impose our rhythm more quickly next time.

Amelie Detriviere "It was up to us to set the pace but the problem was that we weren't doing it, we were too wait-and-see. JT was just asking us to push a little more with the legs. In the second and third we had more consistency and that made a little more difference".
