The level of padel-chair continues to rise in France, both because the number of practitioners and tournaments increases and some of them are so keen that they abandon tennis!

Last Thursday in the Pas-de-Calais, Dorian Navarro, who proclaims that he wants to “Dedicate 100% to padel-armchair ", has once again shown that he is essential in this discipline for which he trains like a pro.

After winning the Masters at Bouc-Bel-Air in December alongside Laurent Giammartini, the young Niçois aimed for the title at Billy-Berclau, associated with another partner: the child from the North Tony Boval, now Alsatian by adoption.

But opposite, there were nine other over-motivated teams, including the Dutch n°1 Robin Ammerlaan (Paralympic champion in Athens, former world n.1 in tennis) and Toon Berkelmans, but also the still French n°1 in wheelchairs Sébastien Husser (Grand Est), which this time teamed up with Lionel Line (Pays de Loire). The 4th dangerous pair was formed by Laurent Giammartini (PACA), also several times world tennis champion, and Nicolas Vanlerberghe (Hauts-de-France).

From the pools, these eight men engaged in very close and spectacular clashes, as did the two semi-finals that followed. The final, which pitted Navarro / Boval against Giammartini / Vanlerberghe, resulted in a very tactical match. "Dorian was not in the fridge, Tony Boval told us, he was in the freezer: 80% of the bullets came at me, it was hard but I held the shock".

At the finish, Navarro and Boval won 3/6 6/4 10/6, while Husser and Line overcame the Dutch in an equally contested match.

These matches were played in the welcoming setting of the Padel Campus Arena, which brings together five tracks of padel.

For the best French wheelchair players, the next meeting of its kind will take place in mid-February in Champigneulles, in Moselle.
