"The padel should not take long to really explode in France”

Padel Magazine : How do you feel about the development of Padel-Point in France ?

Florian : " The padel in France is super exciting. We have seen at the moment that there are communities padel everywhere in France, a sign that the padel is a sport that should soon really explode here. We are very happy to be able to organize this Cupra Padel-Point Tour everywhere in France, and our feelings are super positive!”

17 French cities in 2023 for the Cupra Padel-Point Tour

Padel Magazine : Can you talk about the politics of Padel-Point broadly and especially with the launch of this circuit?

Florian : ” The goal of the Cupra Padel-Point Tour is to push amateur sport upwards, but above all to make the padel more visible and more popular. The aim is also to attract more people to the padel.

We have counted on 11 dates in the four corners of France for the launch of the circuit in 2022. We want to bet on 17 cities in 2023 and really create a craze around the market of padel. "

France: “a real strategic market” for Padel-Point

Padel Magazine : We could see that Padel-Point was very present internationally, with a strong presence in Italy for example. Matias, can you tell us more about the evolution of Padel-Point in these countries ?

Matias : “I think it's clear to everyone that Spain is the biggest market. But among the largest markets behind Spain, we can find Italy: we can see this with the number of leads, the number of sales online and in stores. Italy is truly a booming market.

Then we must not forget Scandinavia and more especially Sweden, which has almost the same number of courts and sales as Italy.e.

We are also focusing on the Benelux, with more and more courts being built in the Netherlands and Belgium. Germany is a little behind, as usual (laughs). But we really want to develop the German, Swiss and Austrian markets. And besides, maybe going to Austria is the next “level” of the Cupra Padel-Point Tour in 2023.”

Padel Magazine : Is it possible to have an estimate of the main “territories of action” of Padel-Point percentage ?

Matias : ” It is clear that as a Tennis-Point/Padel-Point, our main market concerns German-speaking countries. But it is clear that in these countries, the padel is not that developed.

Our most important markets are as we mentioned earlier: Italy, Spain, Sweden… But we see that the French market is starting to grow and evolve. This is the reason why we see France as a strategic market to start the Cupra adventure. Padel-Point Tour, to grow the brand.”

Padel Magazine : The padel is really very developed in South America. Are you also interested in these countries as well?

Matias: “ Obviously the South American market is very interesting, but from our strategic point of view, it is above all Europe and the United States that we are targeting. We entered the American circuit via Tennis-Point, we created two big companies, but in the future I don't know if it's next year or later, for sure we will want to develop Padel-Point and padel generally there.”

“We have planned large activations in Paris, Lyon and Toulouse in 2023”

Padel Magazine : Compared to the French market, what is the future for Padel-Point ? Whether it's this year or next year? Do you have any exclusives for readers of Padel Magazine ?

Florian : “It is certain that for next year we plan to organize the Cupra again Padel-Point Tour everywhere in France, this time with 17 stages. For next year, we have planned major activations in the Paris area, in the Lyon area as well, in Toulouse as well… We have some great partnerships coming up, I can't talk too much about them (laughs).

I think for today it's already not bad, but you will know a lot more in the coming weeks!”

Passionate about football, I discovered the padel in 2019. Since then, it's been crazy love with this sport to the point of abandoning my favorite sport.
