It was during an interview with Olé and VeinteDiez that Paquito Navarro returned to the pair he formed with Juan Tello.

He explains what he missed, what he succeeded in, but also what he learned from this association and talks about his new project with Chingotto.

The end of the Paquito / Tello pair

The worst thing that could happen to us was winning the tournament in Mexico. I thought if we got there, with so little time on the right and without too many training sessions together, with a good pre-season, we would achieve a lot.

I knew that if I changed sides, I couldn't have a better partner than Tello. The feelings at the start weren't bad at all, but then in the first tournament we didn't feel comfortable and the loss against Gonzalo Rubio and Javi Ruiz made us lose confidence.

Then we were beaten by Maxi Sánchez and Lucas Campagnolo, two players who can make things difficult for you at any time. This undermined the project a bit.

In La Rioja we played on the fastest track on the circuit against two guys like Libaak and Augsburger. We could never feel comfortable. Before falling any lower, we discussed and decided to both look for a solution. It's better that way, at least I found out what my real side is (laughs).

A clear conscience

Sportingly, it was a very bad start. It didn't go as we hoped. But we can have peace of mind. We made a very brave bet. “El Gato” Tello is a great guy, and we wanted it to work, but it didn't.

It's 99% my fault because I failed to adapt on the right. We were right to try because we saw that we could be a very dangerous pair and that we could get back to playing well with a “classic” right-hand player. It didn't go so well for us, but I'm glad I tried.

Changing sides with Juan Tello

This gave us a possibility that we hadn't passed before: that of switching sides. Unfortunately we quickly realized that neither of us was made to play on the right.

Similarities between Di Nenno and Chingotto?

They are the closest you can find on the circuit: a super solid defense, an insatiable will, always working for his teammate and with a super spirit. They do this invisible work which is more important than it seems.

Now I appreciate it much more. It's like the defensive midfielder in football. Fede does it perfectly and I have the chance to have a good time with him every day. I needed that sharing of confidence and joy to get my game back, so I will always be eternally grateful to him for trusting me.

Expectations for this end of the season with Chingotto

Chingo is currently at his best. I would love to be able to give him that extra bit of tournament experience so he can go as high as possible. The goal was to find my game Now, we do not set limits.
