The Tennis Club Roquettan will take a new step in April with the construction of a third court. While he had been one of the forerunners in the padel with Patrick Fouquet at the helm, the city has not been able to get involved when needed. Today Patrick Fouquet, the current coach of the Team Padel France, and the club are trying to catch up.

The TCR enters the era of padel

Le padel was born at Tennis Club Roquettan in September 2009 with the arrival of Patrick Fouquet as sports director at the club.

Indeed Patrick FOUQUET was already developing the Padel since the 2000s in the nearby town of Mandelieu and arrived with one of his courts.

The aficionados of padel having followed their coach, the padel immediately took an important part in the club.

Unfortunately, despite this craze the city has not seen fit to respond to the club's demand for development.

It was only after the surrounding clubs were equipped that the city was called upon to face the "strange" development of this sport when they had in their ranks one of the people who had participated in the development of the sport. padel in France for a long time.

8 years for a second pitch

The decision to play a 2nd court took shape in April 2017. It is therefore since the end of June 2017 that TENNIS PADEL ROQUETTAN has 2 tracks and can finally consider a real development since there are already many group lessons, internships etc ...

In front of the perspicacity of the executive committee of the club and in front of the financial interest represented by the activity padel for the sustainability of the club it was decided to build a 3rd court, which will place the Padel Roquettan among the most active in the southern region.

The court will be ready for the end of April tournament and the club will be able to place on the P1000 circuit in the future:

We are going to sacrifice a tennis court to lay a 3rd tennis court. padel. This land had an occupancy rate that was too low and the club's sustainability was at stake… It was urgent to rebalance the 2 activities which can perfectly coexist, but the padel will take more and more importance in France and I do not see why it would not take the same path as in Spain

tells us the sports director.

An academy of padel with the best

It is with pleasure that P. FOUQUET, now coach of the French teams, sees the arrival of these tracks in order to be able to work more comfortably and with the prospect of opening at the start of the September 2018 school year, an academy of Padel.

His aim:train the best players in France".

Tennis and Padel get along well

The Club nevertheless continues to bring TENNIS to life and Padel together since it has a tennis school for 200 children.

The arrival of these short padel will allow the opening of a school of padel for children, hoping that within a few years it will see the same success as the tennis school.

A new era is born in PADEL ROQUETTAN and there is no doubt that President Edgar MUS and his great team of dynamic coaches will ensure good development and organize great events and tournaments for us in the future.
