As October arrives, the rain returns to France. This period marks the end of the high season for outdoor padel clubs… Unless we can adapt to weather conditions.

The influence of rain on the game and equipment

The ground of the land padel can become very slippery when the rain is heavy. It is then necessary adapt your supports to control its movements and avoid slipping. On the contrary, when the rain is light, it is harder to slide and the risk of locking your foot on the ground increases: you have to be careful not to hurt your knees.

When the ball soaks up water, it bounces less but the rebounds are fast and the ball shoots to the ground. The game is therefore faster.

Windows are probably the element that becomes the more unpredictable in case of rain. Indeed, the ball slides on the glass and can take an unexpected direction.

Finally, the shovels wet loses grip, making it impossible to give the ball the desired effect.

Tips for performing in the rain

Warming up becomes very important in extreme conditions. It should be more intense than usual, especially on the legs, to protect against possible injuries.

The game will be lower, it is then necessary to adapt its position with a bending of the legs to put itself in the best conditions to hit the ball.

The strikes against the windows must be less strong and more controlled.

Play simple, without looking for the effects so as not to make mistakes.
