Alix Collombon and Victoria Iglesias lost after a big three-hour fight against Mapi and Majo Alayeto in quarter-final Premier Padel Italy Major.
We were hoping for a tricolor victory on July 14. We will not have had it, but we will at least have been able to enjoy a beautiful “French panache”.
An epic tie-break
In the first set, the Spaniards lead the dance, but the Franco-Spanish pair resist, offering themselves a tie-break after saving two set points.
Better, at 6/5 in the decisive game, Alix and Victoria will even manage to afford a set point, unfortunately not materialized. The Franco-Spanish pair will get two next set points, but they will both be saved by the twins, who will offer themselves an opportunity to conclude the round in turn.
And despite an exceptional point in defense from Alix, clearly targeted by the twins, the favorites won the exchange and offered themselves this first set which lasted more than an hour and a half: 10-8 in the tie-break.
Bodies put to the test

The Roman heat is stifling, the two pairs go blow for blow, a bit like in Toulouse a few weeks ago.
It's a constant fight that is played on the central track of the Foro Italico, but unfortunately for Alix and Victoria, it is Mapi and Majo who are the most precise when it is necessary. The Lyonnaise and her partner are giving everything they have but it won't be enough to avoid defeat.
On their fourth break of the match, the Spaniards won this fight which lasted more than three hours: 7/6 6/3. We do not even dare to imagine the time that the meeting could have lasted if there had been a third set!
Mapi and Majo are in the semi-finals, they will now have to rest to try to arrive in the best conditions tomorrow. It will either be against Ortega/Triay or against Castello/Araujo.
For Collombon and Iglesias, who played there their first quarter-final together, it is a successful tournament that ends. The two players have shown once again that they are not far from the level of the Alayeto twins. Can they finally beat them in the next clash between the two pairs?
