Big surprise at Puerto Cabello P2 with the absence of world number 1s, Paula Josemaria and Ariana Sanchez, in this first P2 of the season.
Female table
Paula and Ariana, on cloud nine at the start of the season after their victory in Riyadh and Doha, will therefore miss the fourth stage of the calendar, in Puerto Cabello in Venezuela. This absence therefore propels Delfi Brea and Bea Gonzalez to the top of the ranking and will therefore start at the top of series 1.
On the French side, we will not find a… but two French women in the final draw. Indeed, we will find the tricolor number 1, Alix Collombon, next to Julieta Bidahorria. The two players had the opportunity to begin their association this week on the Ultimate circuit Padel Round. But we will also find Carla Toully with Magdalena Fernandes, directly in the final table. The two players will form the 22è pair (out of 24 in total).
In the previa, two other French women will try to join their compatriots. Indeed, Elodie Invernon and Bruna Albuquerque will form the 2 seed in the qualifiers. They will try to repeat the feat they did in Doha last week.
Camille Sireix and Alba Carmona (TS6) will also try their luck and hope to reach the final table of this first P2!
Male table
Among men, as expected, two big changes with the new association Chingotto/Galan (TS2) and Gonzalez/Lebron (TS4). We will also note the abandonment of Juan Tello and Alex Ruiz. This last announced today, he will not be able to participate in the Acapulco tournament, nor in the Puerto Cabello tournament the following week.
On the French side, 5 tricolors will go through the qualification box. In fact, we find Thomas Leygue, associated with Fran Ramirez, as well as Bastien Blanqué et Dylan Guichard. And to finish, Manu Vives with Julien Seurin.
Another French player is on the waiting list. It is Dorian deMeyer who, in the event of selection at the previas, would play alongside Isaac Huysveld.
It was her brother who one day told her to accompany him to a padel court, since then, Gwenaëlle has never left the court. Except when it comes to going to watch the retransmission of Padel Magazine, World Padel Tour… or Premier Padel…or the French Championships. In short, she is a fan of this sport.
