A1 Padel prepares the Verbier Master of Switzerland, which will take place from August 14 to 20 and whose ambassador will be the Swiss tennis player Stan Wawrinka. For the occasion, the circuit spoke with Renato Lombardi, the co-director of the event.

A first test in Switzerland

“We have realistic expectations but a lot of enthusiasm for the future. We know that the padel is still in its infancy in Switzerland, and the idea is to create a first event on which we can build in the years to come. This first year will be a good test to see how the padel Switzerland will react to an international event. We hope all fans of the sport will come to see the best players in an absolutely stunning venue, and we also want to attract people from other walks of life to experience the padel and all the magic that surrounds it.”

Stan Wawrinka, a unique chance for A1 Padel

“To be clear, without Stan Wawrinka there would be no tournament. He is the owner of the tournament, the originator of the idea and he gave and continues to give energy for the organization of the event. This is a unique chance for the padel, for A1, and for Switzerland to have an ambassador as involved as him.”

Verbier, a unique place

“Just coming to Verbier is an experience in itself. The village is located in the Swiss Alps, which offers unique landscapes in the world. People can enjoy a mountain walk or a mountain bike circuit during the day before coming to admire the best players of padel. Verbier and its region (Val de Bagnes) is also the birthplace of the famous traditional dish “La Raclette”, an essential dish to end a day in Swiss paradise.”
