Julien Seurin and Manuel Vives were on the verge of victory during the first round of qualifying for the Greenweez Paris Major. However, it was not enough against Pedro Araujo and Cristobal Garcia Blanco. And yet, it must be emphasized, the French dominated for two sets. Even more, Julien and Manuel even won more points in total than their opponents: 90 to 88.

In the first set, the French logically won 6/2. They started this part incredibly effectively, perhaps delivering their best set together. On the other hand, the Spaniard Cristobal Garcia showed an inconsistent game, at times committing direct errors. The Portuguese could only see the damage.

In the second set, the French maintained the pressure, but failed to capitalize on numerous opportunities.

First, at 6/2, 3/3, 0/30, the French are in a position to make the break. Cristobal and Pedro resist. Then come these two break points at 4/4, 15/40 which the French pair fails to achieve.

In response, almost against the flow of play, the Spanish-Portuguese pair managed to break the French to win the second set 6/4.

Mentally, this proves to be a blow and the game evens out. The two pairs were evenly matched, but in the end, Araujo/Garcia won 6/4 in the third set.

It's a victory down to the wire for the favorites of this confrontation. There is, of course, disappointment in the eyes of Seurin and Vives, very aware of having come very close to victory.
